Safeguarding
Information & Advice
We believe that safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. At Beardall Fields we are committed to keeping our children safe from harm. Mr Drayton, Miss Collins, Mr Fearn, Ms Ottley, Mrs Simpson and Mr Sellers are our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and have responsibility for safeguarding and child protection. If we have any concerns reported to us we will always take action to protect a child and inform the relevant agencies where necessary.
If you would like to raise a concern yourself, you can do so in a number of ways:
*To a member of staff or a DSL in person, on the phone or through ClassDojo.
*By emailing dsl@beardallfields.org.uk
*By reporting to the Nottinghamshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) | Nottinghamshire County Council as a member of the public
*If you believe there is an immediate threat or safeguarding risk you should always call 999
When school is closed due to holidays, we ask that you email dsl@beardallfields.org.uk. This email inbox will be checked periodically over the holiday so a significant concern should be raised with MASH as a member of the public. As above, any urgent and imminent risk should be passed onto the police through a 999 call.
Full details of our safeguarding policy is available from the office and below on this page.
All staff and volunteers in school have security checks including DBS. All Staff undertake regular safeguarding training to ensure they are up to date with statutory documents and internal procedures.
Allegations against staff and volunteers
All staff and volunteers should be aware of their duty to report any concerns about the attitude, actions or behaviour of staff. If a child, parent, volunteer or staff member makes an allegation regarding a member of staff, the head teacher should be immediately informed. The head teacher will discuss the allegation and seek guidance from the Local Area Designated Office (LADO). If the allegation refers to the Head Teacher then the Chair of Governors, Mr Phil Bailey, should be informed. Support or advice can be gained from any of the school’s staff. The governor responsible for safeguarding is Mrs Suzanne Stoddart.
Fire Precautions
In the event of the fire alarm sounding continuously at any time, everyone must leave the building immediately using the nearest fire exit – all are clearly marked. You will be directed to the assembly point that is allocated to the class you are with. On discovering a fire, sound the fire alarm by activating the nearest call point. These are situated by fire exits throughout the school.
School Security
All visitors to school must be signed in at reception and will be wearing an identification badge. We please ask that you keep external doors closed and do not allow access to the building to anyone who does not have identification. We ask that visitors do not use cameras or mobiles to take pictures on the school site without permission.
E Safety
The school has central filtering software to protect children from visiting unsuitable websites. Children are taught about E-safety and appropriate use of the internet. Staff monitor internet activities and ensure the internet is used for positive educational purposes. On the policy section of the website we have information about E-Safety for parents and in the Parents section, there are Internet Safety Links to help support you and your child whilst online.
Conduct on Site
Beardall Fields Primary and Nursery School operates a non-smoking and non-vaping policy. This includes the grounds as well as the buildings. We also do not allow any animals on site at any time. Unacceptable conduct on site, including swearing, threatening or aggressive behaviour towards pupils or staff, will be immediately sanctioned and followed up with all available powers to us.
Informing Children
We regularly have assemblies where we remind children of how we keep them safe at school. This includes who keeps them safe, how the grounds are kept secure and what they can do if they do have a concern. We discuss with children their 'Trusted 5' and how a concern should be shared if it is causing worry.
Fire and Lockdown drills take place regularly to ensure the children are prepared and understand the safety measures that are put in place.
