Phased Re-opening of School
Dear Parents/Carers, Many of you will have watched the Prime Minister on Sunday evening where he talked about a phased opening of schools that ‘could’ start on the 1st June ‘at the very earliest’ for children in Reception, Y1 and Y6. Yesterday, the government produced some guidance for parents and carers; see the link below. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers/reopening-schools-and-other-educational-settings-from-1-june
It’s a very unsettling time for us all, but rest assured that we are looking at the guidance in detail and how it could work for us if there is a phased reopening for some year groups. In the meantime, following the announcement made by the Prime Minister, I would like to confirm that our school is only currently open for the children of critical workers as well as those children who are classed as vulnerable, and that the critical workers’ list remains unchanged.
At this point, I feel it is important for you as parents to read and understand the guidance. Later this week, I will also send out some form of questionnaire for parents of children in Reception, Y1 and Y6 to gather your initial thoughts of whether you would send your child in if the phased reopening of schools goes ahead.
If you have any initial questions you can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please be aware, schools do not receive any prior warning on government decisions on reopening of schools, so information is slowly trickling down to head teachers.
I hope that you and your family are keeping well,
