Parents/Carers of Reception, Y1 and Y6,

As you will know the government announced that there could be a phased reopening of primary schools at the’ earliest date’ of the 1st of June.

The link to the guidance for parents about the reopening can be found on our facebook page, twitter and the website.  This guidance will give you an outline of how schools will manage this reopening.  Some examples of what is in the guidance is keep children in groups of no more than 15 children, staggering start and finish times, having separate playtimes for different groups, separate dinner times etc.  It is really important that when considering your decision of whether to send your child to school that you read this guidance.

Although the government has set a date of 1st June at the earliest, we would not reopen until I am confident any risk to children and staff is minimised through clear risk assessment procedures.  Only when I feel we have made the school as safe as possible for our whole school community of children, staff and parents would we be prepared to set a date.  I would keep you updated at every point.

As we begin our initial preparations in planning for the possible phased reopening, we would like to seek out numbers of how many parents would send their children to school.  This is based on your feelings now, we do not know how things will pan out and we are not asking for any commitment from yourselves but more to gauge numbers to help in initial plans.

With this in mind, please respond to our quick survey by Sunday 17th May. There will be an opportunity to ask a question on the survey, which we will gather in and produce a FAQs sheet. Please click on the link to access the survey or copy and paste this into your browser

We understand that for many families this is a very difficult decision to make and one which will require possibly more time and more information.  Each family’s decision must be based on their own personal circumstances and what is right for you at this time. Families will not be penalised in any way for choosing not to send their child to school.

We look forward to reading your responses.

I hope you and your family are keeping well,

Katherine Collins
