Letter for Key Workers & Parents of Children in Reception, Yr 1 and Yr 6

Dear Parents/Carers,
As you will be aware, the Prime Minister announced on Sunday evening that schools would definitely
re-open from the 1st June for children in Reception, Y1 and Y6.
Please note the following dates:
Monday 1st June - INSET day and school will be closed to all children including key worker children
Tuesday 2nd June - School will reopen for Key Worker children only
Wednesday 3rd June - School will reopen for children in Reception and Y6 who contacted us as requested via the enquiries email address.
Monday 8th June - School will reopen for Y1 children who contacted us and requested a place via the enquiries email address.
For those who haven’t let us know you will be sending your child back you MUST NOT just turn up. You should email and you will be given a date when you may bring your child back. This is to ensure the groups of children do not go above the limit of 15 per group.
See below for school opening times Monday – Friday.
Reception 8.30am – 3.00pm
Y1 – 9 .00am - 3.30pm
Y6 - 8.45am – 3.15pm
Key workers 8.45am – 3.15pm.
Please note there are no penalties for non-attendance during this time.
Packed Lunches
All children will eat their lunch in their classrooms so we will not be serving hot dinners. If your child is in Reception or Y1 then we will order a packed lunch for them as part of the universal infant free school meals. If your child is in Y6 they should bring their own packed lunch unless they are in receipt of free school meals. You must ensure your child brings in their own water bottle each day.
Children are expected to wear uniform but allowances will be made. Trainers may be worn if your child has outgrown their shoes. Uniform should be washed daily.
Children should not bring any bags or reading folders to school. We will be listening to children read but we will not be sending books home. Children will have their own resources in school which will not be shared with other children.
Drop off/Pick up
When dropping off or picking your child up we ask that, where possible, only one adult drops off or picks up a child. There will be a one-way system in place for dropping off and picking up. Entry will be from Kenbrook Road and you will leave the school site by the Nursery gate on Emperors Way. We expect that children in Y6 will access the school grounds independently.
Mrs Huskinson’s Reception class (RH) – Parents will enter the site through the side gate off Kenbrook Road. Staff will be on hand to guide you. Pick up at the same point.

Mrs Gladwin/Matthews Reception (RG) - Parents will enter the site through the Sports Field gate and follow the path round to the Nursery play area. Staff will be on hand to guide you. Pick up at the same point.
Y1 will access through the Sports Field gate and wait on the netball court in the playground which will be sectioned off in to 3 groups. Staff will be on hand to guide you. Pick up at the same point.
Y6 – will access through the sports field gate, walk down the steps to the right and past Y3 and Y4 classrooms to their own classroom doors. Y6 will leave through the Nursey gate so please wait for your child outside this gate.
Please arrive at the correct time and avoid any small gatherings.
Should you need to pass on a message to the teacher, this must be done through email only as you will not have access to staff at the start or end of the school day. This is to minimise the contact staff have with other people. Please respect this.
Should your child display any corona virus symptoms while at school they will be isolated in a ventilated room and you will need to collect as soon as possible. You should follow government guidelines on isolating and ensure your child gets a test, ensuring you keep school updated. In the event that any child or staff member in one group tests positive, then the whole group will be asked to isolate. You must not send your child in if they are at all unwell with any symptom.
The only PPE which will be worn in school is by staff who are dealing with First Aid incidents which require closer contact, or to address any medical needs.
As ever should you have any further questions or concerns then please email
I will send a further letter on Friday to address any further questions or concerns which may arise.
Take care,
Katherine Collins
