Information from the Head re Coronavirus

17 March 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

As many of you will know by now, the Holgate Academy has closed until after Easter.  We remain open but have cancelled some events.

As you are aware the government has offered further advice on the coronavirus and who should self- isolate and from when.

Should you choose to self-isolate please let the office know that this is the reason.  Government advice is that, if one person in the household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone should stay home for 14 days.  These absences will be recorded on the register with a different code to other general illness absence codes.  Anyone with underlying health concerns who feel that they should self-isolate as a precaution, will be recorded using the same code.

All the latest information from the DfE will added to the website daily and you will be alerted by text when it has been uploaded.

As a school, from today, we have cancelled any extra-curricular after school clubs.  We have cancelled any trips which had been planned for the rest of this half term only, including the residential to Hagg Farm.  We have also taken the decision to cancel swimming sessions for the rest of this half term.

The E-safety meeting and parents’ evenings will be rearranged for later in the school year.

In order to minimise risk, we ask that parents do not come in to school but just drop children at classroom doors.  We are no longer allowing parents access to the Hub or corridors at any part of the school day.

All children have Mathletics, Reading Eggs and Purple Mash log-ins and passwords.  Purple Mash covers all aspects of the curriculum and is a brilliant resource. These should have been sent home with your child on Friday. Please check your child’s reading diary for these.  On our website you will find the homework sheets and spellings for each year group.  The Twinkl website, which many teachers use to resource lessons, are offering parents free access to it for a month.  The details for this are posted on the website and our Facebook page. If your child hasn’t received login details for Mathletics, Reading Eggs or Purple Mash please email the school office:  office@beardallfields.org.uk

We will keep you updated as to any changes; as you will appreciate things can change day to day at the moment and even hour to hour.

Yours sincerely

K Collins
